The best films from Northern Europe are on the program for the Northern Film Festival. The Northern Film Festival is the film celebration of the north, taking place annually in beautiful Leeuwarden. From November 13-17, 2024, it’s happening again! The theme for the 44th edition of the Northern Film Festival is: "In Motion." Ticket sales start on October 30.

Northern Film Festival

The film world is alive. Filmmakers continuously push the boundaries, and there is certainly no shortage of that in the north. The Northern Film Festival is for anyone who wants to be surprised and inspired by films from all over Northern Europe.

This November in Leeuwarden, immerse yourself in the warm atmosphere of the festival, where northern films, both big and small, are celebrated, and where sustainability and innovation are paramount. Here, at one of the largest and oldest film festivals in the Netherlands, around 20,000 visitors indulge in a diverse program of more than a hundred screenings over five days.
